Long time, no see

So it has been a long time, and several of my basic stories have been overhauled - some more than once, and there have been some interesting RPs.
Hero got into a rut in which there was some inevitable horrible things about to happen to Alex and Simon, but [info]charlieag_me and I couldn't bear to do it to them, so eventually we gave up, retconned it to be all just a dream and started again from a much easier point. I hate doing this kind of thing, but sometimes it's the only way.
Have started up an interesting game with [info]grimmalkin using Nightlife's Kal and Serena, and Kal's treatment at the inter-dimensional clinic which is the stamping ground of Grimm's characters, Huul, Greg and H'bali. Hilarity will likely ensue, but whether I post it here depends on Grimm. Also, she is a busy person, so it doth go very slowly indeed.
Genesis Era became an RP with the most talented [info]gogoangelgunboy, but that was cut off for reasons that shall not be discussed here.
After a year or so it was picked up again, with the very delightful [info]pocketfox this time. There is a huge amount of story so far, and we've only got three days into game time; however, it'd help to read the first game to understand what's going on, so I'm going to post that first. In bits, because it actually got quite a long way before it ended.

Superhero theory. And some anthro sex.

So last night I had a very convoluted superhero dream, part of which featured a book of matches which froze time for as long as the match burned.
Now, as a plot artefact, this strikes me as pretty cool, and I think I am going to give it to Mobius. At the moment, his time-manipulation powers are a little oblique and come from a badly-defined illness called temporal anomalies. It would be much cooler if he had a box with a limited number of matches - say it started with five hundred and now he's down to three hundred and sixty-eight - and when he strikes one, time stops as long as the match burns. While he is holding the match, time continues for him, and the wind will not be moving to blow it out, but if he drops it in a puddle or walks into a raindrop it will go out and the match will then be useless. He may or may not later find a lamp that will light with these matches, extending their time, but otherwise, no wick will light with this flame because there's no time for convection to happen in.
And yes, it's a pretty lame power. He has about a minute and a half of non-time, with one hand occupied.
But a good superhero power is not about how uber it is. It's about how it can swing the plot. Superman is full of plot holes because he's just too damn powerful - the bad guys have to find ways to depower him before they can do ANYTHING and STILL there's the issues of 'but Superman's SUPERMAN - why didn't he just do (insert super-thing here)?' And he is be far not the only one.
Your hero does not NEED the biggest, most powerful power in the universe. All it needs to be is something that can tweak the plot, if used inventively.
That's why the best superpower is the power of thinking out of the box.

Also, the other night I got on a roll and wrote some Genesis Era porn. Well, it's actually pretty important to the plot - but yeah. This is ten to fifteen years before the present, and the first meeting of Tren Tzamelack and Hakt Dsento. Long before they're as confident as they are now, long before they're married, but not so long before the huge sack of shit that got them together in the first place.
Oh, and sand dogs as a species now have a name. It's 'Kamar', or 'speakers of Kamartzi'.

Yes, Kamar are pretty direct. )

Translations from the Kamartzi given if you ask.

Nightlife worlds - Below

Just a quick post this time - basically, the world of Nightlife is divided into a lot of Planes, so far in the story we have Gaia, Mundane, Above and Below. Most of the story takes place in Gaia, Mundane is the normal world, not much is known about Above, but these are the existing notes on Below.

Below, or, the Netherworld in General )

Hero - the edited RP, installation 1

This is the start of the RP, when Simon met Alex. It's not exactly as played - it's been altered for readability and because some things that happened in the early game got changed by agreement later (for example, originally, Simon wore a mask and called himself the Highwayman, and then we realised there was absolutely no reason for him to do so).
Simon Morris and all his family belong to me
Alex Schmidt and his family belong to [info]charlieag_me
Hero, the city of Ravensholme and the district of Grey City belong to both of us.

Charlie hasn't seen this yet, though... )

I'm not posting the second unfinished Jinx Maru story. Mostly because there's not much to it - it got to half a page of beginning and then a couple of bits in the middle, and therefore doesn't make much sense. But it was called 'She Shall Have Music'.
Instead, we move on to one of my favourite RPs, Hero - set in the Special Skills universe, only in a different part of the world, in the imaginary city of Ravensholme (which will one day have a proper description and possibly even a map).
It's an ongoing game and the other player is [info]charlieag_me - it has a growing cast but the main players so far are Charlie's empathic workaholic reporter, Alex Schmidt, and this guy.
This is one of the most interesting games I've ever played. Sometimes I'm not sure where it's all coming from.

Written over a year ago from a DeviantArt meme, slightly edited so mostly up-to-date. )

Unfinished Cirque fic 1 - Cross My Path

So as I said, I promised [info]gogoangelgunboy a fanfic. It was going to be a Cirque du Desir/Jinx Maru fanfic, and this is the first of two (so far) failed attempts. Incidentally, this version of the Cirque is an airship like the Jinx, not a carnival in the traditional sense.

OK, this is the last one of the lastest profile-dump, maybe I should tell you what I actually intend here. At the moment, WorldCollection's flist totals about five people who I might conceivably annoy with all these profile posts and unfinished works, so I'm getting them up RIGHT NOW. While I don't expect to ever have a fanbase the size of Downed*Angel or Metanoia, I suppose it's conceivably possible, and the less bored people at the start, the better. I want to get the old stuff down here, then we can get to the good stuff and the new deals.
So I'm digging out all my files in alphabetical order, when they're done you'll get the notebooks, and so on.
This one is the Cirque file, it also has a couple of beginnings of stories in. Both Jinx Maru fanfic - for [info]gogoangelgunboy - and both unfinished for a long time. I'll put them up next and you can see how far they got. Gabe, one day I will finish a fanfic for you, but it's more likely to be a D*A one.
Anyway...

Yet more profiles, from an RP that died through lack of contact. I'm trying to ressurect some of the characters, because I liked these people. For those interested, the forum this was played on is still here: http://desirrp.suddenlaunch3.com/index.cgi
All characters copyright their creators.

Note: Profiles were written some time ago. Current timeline has been moved on two years; Redd Telheaneas is no longer in the picture. A number of things have changed. )

It's been a while - but more Les Rejets

Next bit of Les Rejets, which still isn't finished. And I really ought to update here more often...

Part three, and excuse my French )

More Les Rejets

Well, what can I say? Pert two of something which isn't finished anyway...
BTW, I welcome corrections to my French, since I get most of it from Babelfish and have no idea how to pronounce most of it anyway...

Little Fireshot sidetracking...

Yeah, this was written in direct response to this: http://sleepyoldvamp.deviantart.com/art/Lines-65187386
It's not important to the plot. It's just a silly side thing.

Les Rejets part one

The Les Rejets story is not finished yet, although it's probably got further than any other story I've done so far. This is the first bit - Christophe Holisse's history, or some of it. The timing is actually a couple of thousand years in the future, but society has regressed a bit. I don't write steampunk often.

Nightlife profile - Brander Farbautissen

Profile time again - this time Brander from the third Nightlife book, which has now been titled Nightlife: Self Defence for the Modern Changeling.

This is not the changeling concerned. )

And yes, I do mean epic. After I wrote Bad Day's Night I started off in a whole different direction, building a fan universe that fit (to the best of my knowledge) perfectly well with old-style BMFM canon, completely ignored the new series (about which I am mostly in denial), began thirty years in the past and ended (so far) somewhere between fifteen and twenty years in the future.
It's called BIA continuity, mainly because a lot of it was inspired by the Dire Straits album Brothers in Arms, which I was listening to a lot at the time.
This one in particular - which was the first one... )

First Biker Mice fanfic I ever wrote...

  • Mar. 16th, 2008 at 12:44 PM
serena
So Decenber 2006, I got given a laptop for Christmas. Shortly after, I got overwhelmed by the Biker Mice From Mars fandom and how cool the whole thing was. It was actuallt a mamory from my childhood and I'll tell you a secret - Throttle wasn't actually my first ever anthro crush, but that's slightly beside the point.
This is a romance which was supposed to be between my character (yet another image of the author, but what's fanfiction FOR, after all?) and Throttle. My characters tend to get out of hand a little, as this one did, and Kim ended up with Modo instead. I wasn't even going to put a Charley/Vinnie pairing in, but it happened anyway, go figure. This was going to be a longer story, with more sex and more violence. But when I went back to it I found it was good enough. It was going to have sequels, more stories about Kim Hartley, but then I got started on the Brothers in Arms series and this got left all alone, in its own continuity. But for a first attempt, I don't think it's that bad.

Next bit in the Fireshot series...

The next bit by me was written in direct response, by way of a sequel. It moves the plot on rather a lot.

Another Nightlife profile - Kal Serenya

This one is by far the longest of the Nightlife profiles, probably because the character has the most complete background - after all, the story does follow him from birth, and he's quite a complicated character to begin with.
